Two people can look at the same sky and describe different colours. I went to the Cinque Terre to photograph the ones I kept noticing.
Franco Fontana’s work had started that interest years earlier. This series was a way of paying attention to it again.
I treated colour as the main language of the series. Buildings, sea and sky became shapes to arrange, with colour doing as much of the work as the lines of the frame.
The series was later featured in Fisheye Magazine #76 in 2026.
